wellies for addy

this is the custom quilt
i have been working on
i named it "wellies for addy"
i think that it is by far
my most favorite quilt i have made
ever.

addy's mom  picked out the
donkeys wearing wellies fabric
and let me choose the rest of
the fabric from my stash.

i decided to try my hand
at wonky blocks.
this was outside of my comfort zone.
but i had great fun.
before i knew it,
all the blocks were made.

it is so happy
fun
and full of wonkiness.
i just love it so.

thank you addy
for allowing me to create
this special quilt for you.
i hope it brings you lots
of happiness over the years.

finally....

i created a bag that i love!

handmade holiday

this year we drew names in our family.
it makes sense as our family is growing.
we also set a monetary limit.
this is also makes sense.

what does not make sense
is that i am frantically sewing and knitting
trying to get gifts finished before we leave
on sunday morning.

these are not handmade gifts
for the holidays.
they are other sorts of
handmade gifts.

like
the you bought a new house gift
the thank you for dog sitting gift
the just because you want one gift
and
the getting ready for my new nephew gift.

handmade holiday (aka holiday bazaar)

donkeys and wellies

spending so much time in greece, it is hard not to fall in love with the donkeys that live on the island. and wellies, well who doesn't love them? i recently discovered this site. i think i want a pair in every color. so when i discovered this fabric from scarlet fig, i was smitten. i just had to have the fabric. my mom loved it too and asked me to make a bag for her cousin who shares our love of donkeys.

this weekend i was able to get the bag made thanks to a napping bean and grandma pat, who came over on saturday for a few hours so i could sew. i have made this bag several times, but this time i used cotton webbing for the handles instead of fabric. i think that they will be sturdier. now to get this little gem in the mail before i decide to keep it for myself.

handmade holiday unwrapped part 1

now that all of the gifts have been unwrapped, i can share some of my handmade holiday gifts.

a quilt for my mom, with little birds in the quilting pattern.

a longhorn pillow for my brother, he says he is taking it to the bar to watch the bcs national championship game for good luck.

a warm hat for my little brother who lives in alaska.

second storie

this past saturday i went to the second storie indie market, not that i needed to buy anything, but i wanted to check it out and support handmade.

i was really impressed with the quality of work. i did buy a few items, but resisted the urge to purchase anything for myself. it was tempting since all of my holiday gifts are finished.

i bought this darling poster for the bean's room. and bought a few gifts for loved ones. my mom just had back surgery so i am her elf this holiday season.

i collected a large stack of cards. here are some of my favorite finds.
