arrival

Wednesday, August 18, 2010

around this time of year i begin to anticipate the arrival of fall. one of the things i love about living in the northeast is the clear mark of seasons.  fall is my favorite season: the way the sky looks, the blustery days, the crisp edge to the air, the color of the leaves, the smell of wet leaves, picking apples, knowing that the holidays are right around the corner, pulling out the sweaters, boots and jeans, and making chili on sunday.

but the thing i look forward to the most is without a doubt is start of college football.

the countdown is officially on.....

this morning

i woke to a back yard covered with leaves. seriously, all the leaves were on the tree yesterday and they fell over night, a sure sign that winter is on its way.

so, i took the time to shuffle around in them, before my precious husband rakes them up this afternoon, and document the change of seasons. i do love the sound of leaves rustling under my feet. and B well he watched the last few leaves flutter to the ground and rolled around in the leaves, practicing his snow angels, in anticipation of the first snow.

looking forward to fall

i know that summer recently decided to make an appearance in some parts of the country, but seeing kim hargreaves new collection for fall, makes me yearn for crisp and blustery days, fall skies and the color of changing leaves. kim was a designer for rowan for over 20 years and then went out on her own. i think she is one of the best in the business, her patterns are well written, her design sense is excellent and she uses rowan yarns (my personal favorite).

i think the following designs will be added to my must knits for fall. and i think i may even have some of the yarn in my stash.

so here's to fall knitting!
